I was cleaning the garage trying to get stuff ready for MA when I found a some of my failed car designs, so I thought it be cool to see what came out of everyone else's mind!

I know that this sport is driven by innovation BUT sometimes we can think way to far outside the box!
It might also help someone not make the same mistakes I made. Or maybe someone will see why the car didn't perform?

Looking forward to seeing what you guys post. I'll start... had high hopes for this one! LOL!

Man - that ratrod car was really cool looking and if my daughter ever figured out you could do a mind craft car I might get her interested in helping me build again (guessing the green car was mine craft themed). Which car was you fastest - I am guessing the yellow checkered one -

Thanks. We worked hard on the Rat Rod! He wants to race that one in scouts graphite at MA. It only weights 1.2 ounces w/ the wheels. It runs nice, it's just not aerodynamic
It was just green until I went to get get a coffee refill. I left my 9 yr old son alone with a marker and he made it a "Creeper". Tryingout the GEE fenders on that one. No sure about them?
The checker car was the fastest, it won both Pack and District Champion.

Over 115 of you guys have looked at this post and not ONE of you have posted a pic! So why? Has no one followed the rabbit down the hole? NO ONE has made one goofy out of the box thinking car? No has the cojones to admit a mistake?

So I'm the only one with innovation and vision! Makes me feel darn good. LMAO!
See you all at Mid America!

I can't say I have really done anything out of the box, stupid. It's a car with wheels, what can you do?

The stupidest thing I probably did was build a 4 3/8" wheelbase pushed back and add heavy wheel weights. The car had about a 3/16"COM. It was nearly untunable. Hours of tunning was necessary to get it to run. I was so happy when I retired that car.

I mostly let others do the innovating and concentrate on the perfecting, which never really happens but I try to get it closer.

Ha! I would get bored in a hurry if I had to only recycle others' ideas. Not to mention any meaningful breakthroughs by others are going to be yesterdays news by the time they get to us in rookieville. I just throw ideas out there like free hail Mary passes.

My worst idea was adding a little packaging foam to deaden the vibration from the rear wheels to the FDW after I hollowed out the center. It's one of those things where, the more you think about it, you think, nah.

Lol! We do that to all of our cars! I used to use spray foam, but now I just cut foam insulation to size! That was a good idea/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Now that you think there is some merit to it, I might have to rethink it. I guess the bottom line is you never know until you try!

I haven't had opportunity to build anything insane yet, but .....

Seeing Co2 powered cars I thought, why not go all the way and use an Estes model rocket motor /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif (and a very long track)
