Yes that is what we do. Clean and inspect after we’re done with everything “mechanical”. Then we treat with jig then oil. Or without jig skip to oil. It’s amazing what a little q tip lint can do to your time. oh rise off the Dawn and a little goes a long way

We shifted to oil before we were aware of Jigaloo. I agree with tbone. It’s faster and consistent and doesn’t make a mess. Do good cleaning with dawn and dry between. Inspect with a magnifying glass to make sure all lint, etc is off. Good luck.

I wanted something like that to work when we started and completely agree with what the experts above say. The bone shape may also be more finicky to tune and stay consistent. For us, until we started racing beyond locally, nothing other than steering, axle and wheel prep really mattered. So...

Sorry, to the original question, no I wouldn’t coat over a skin. Before or sanding sealer on wood (balsa or pine) but not on the skin. Besides you skin because you want a great look without the pain of compatible paints, solvents, cans, masks and airbrushes…..

Old plastic model maker secret is pledge revive It Floor Gloss. The nice thing is that it self levels and is easy to recoat. It’s easy to airbrush too (straight). Clean up is water or windex or acrylic thinner. You can wax over it once dry. It is very sticky for about 15 minutes so keep dust...

If you’re concerned that your axles are loose you might try a wrap of very thin (0.005 in etc) brass foil. You might find it at hobby lobby. I’ve over drilled holes and have used this successfully to keep things in place. Just have to make sure the brass is stuffed and isn’t ticking the wheel...
