for graphite cars, do you still have to burnish when using Red Rocket?

Good point. I will bring it up during our meeting and see if there is any interest from the kids/parents.

for graphite cars, do you still have to burnish when using Red Rocket?

The kids want to go fast, but most parents don't care. Don't want to spend a lot of time on it. When we raced in this pack the cars which came close to us we still beat with 2-3 car lengths, so not that competitive. I am also afraid if a 3 grader would do the polishing most of the bores might...

for graphite cars, do you still have to burnish when using Red Rocket?

I am helping some scouts with their cars. Nothing fancy just giving some basic tips and helping with axle holes and maybe weight pockets. Since most don't want to spend too much time on their cars I was wondering if we could still burnish standard unprepped BSA wheels with graphite/red rocket if...

    NYC championships

I was surprised that our front end was also to narrow, but again I also never checked at home. The car we raced already had run on a best track at our Pack and District level with no problems so I never thought on checking it. Luckily we could could fix it by just pulling the NDFW out. We just...

I agree, however the partition could be there to keep the inspectors from being bothered by people who cars are inspected at the moment. You could easily see though the gaps of the partition though. And maybe next time they can inspect the whole car first, report what is wrong so you can...

Did they make you pull an axle out totally? Or did you have visibility holes? We didn't have those visibility holes and had to pull an axle. Which resulted in lots of finger prints over a finely prepped axle. I wonder if all cars without visibility holes had to pull an axle? Rules stated you...

    ladder car issues

What wheel gap would you recommend? Do you use the same for back wheels and DFW? We have the wheel gap tool from DD4H and normally use the black, which is 0.10 I believe, would you use the same gap for smaller diameter (BSA) axles or use smaller or larger gap? Thanks!

    ladder car issues

Just use the normal 3M double sided tape, it's as thin as normal tape and it sticks really well. I had issues removingpour weights. We normally just use the aluminium tape on the bottom and that has worked well enough to hold the weights in place, we normally cover the whole bottom with it. I...

    ladder car issues

Even more races with no bend axles, what are they doing? I have the 5 bushing clear jig too, however I do have issues with getting consistent steer drilled with it. Esp. when drilling in a car that is already been build and has the 1/16 taken of. Not an issue when building a new car maybe but...

    Darkside is comin'

Great to learn this, we always left the lifted NDFW free to rotate. My philosophy was that it would encounter air resistance which if pinned down would translate to the car, slowing it down. But if the wheel was free to rotate some of that air resistance energy would go into turning the wheel...

BSA axles - Grooved vs. Non Grooved

If your talking about the NYC race, you are not allowed to use oil there in any class. We used non grooved axles last year and did well. I think, as mentioned before, more important is the axles are straight.

    Building back up car

We have raced a car like that. Dominant wheel on the right, put weights on the right (when car flipped over), done! After the race, why is the weight biased to the raised wheel? Oops! Luckily we still won with that setup.

    On losing to a cheater...

At our last district race, when my son picked up his car, one of the axles was half pulled out. I am wondering if that happened in the last run or someone got curious and pulled out the axle to take a look, didn't hear any protest though about us using oil (which was allowed, but think most...

    Weight further back or aerodynamics?

I ran it down a 32 feet wooden track, it seemed fine, however on a best track with a different transition it might be different. I think I will play it safe this time and just put it over the axle and slightly towards the back. Although with the amount of weight on the front wheel I am not too...

    Preferred Method When Applying Jig

So I did a quick spray of the axles at about arms length, let it dry for 15 min, when checking with a loop I didn't see anything on the axles, is that the way it supposed to be? Or do I need to see a thin film? Next time I will check right after I sprayed to see if anything got on.
