I have a 42' ... just leave a section out if you're tight for space. Always good to have the option. Take a nice drive down to sunny Florida. I'll cut you a deal on the whole package.
This is a three-lane all aluminum BestTrack. Lanes are taped red/white/blue. It has the MicroWizard K3 timer and ESS magnetic starter.
The track was used for testing only... has never left the house.
Due to size (and the need to disassemble) this is local pickup only. South West Florida...
Well, our worst fears were realized. Unfortunately, I couldn't attend, but my son's car wiggled and bounced it's way into 4th place and did not get invited to the Council Championships.
Someone sent me photos of the track... it was ridiculous. The sections were soup bowls from joint-to-joint...
I think you're height is dictated by the ground clearance stated in the rules. No?
If you're going for a full (long) wheel base, again the rules dictate. No part of the car can extend beyond the wheels.
I use the "lip" of the Block to shoulder up to for my DFW and the same for the rear once I...
Guys, I need some advice.
After making our effort to step up and build cars the right way and with our eye on the Council Championships, I have just received news that our District race will be run:
a.) Outdoors
b.) On a wooden track
c.) On a 32' track
d.) On a weekend I'm traveling and can't...
I'm not referring to the inner bore... I'm talking about the recesses on the exterior. That little step on the wheel face and the tiny step on the inner hub.
I'm about to try (re-try) my oil prep process.
One of the things I noticed in previous attempts was I would end up with residual polish in the recessed area of the inner portion of the hub and in the inner section of the wheel face where the axle head seats. (in the crease).
I'm also going to...
I use Duplicolor for color (they go on pretty thin) and they make a pretty good filler primer if you want to get rid of the grain. Heavy coats of their primer with wet sanding in between will get you there if you done a good job of your wood sanding.
For clear coat, I don't like the...
When using the Dupont Teflon spray (aka - blue stuff), would spinning the axle slowly in a drill while spraying help get it applied evenly? Maybe speed up toward the end of the process to shed the excess?
Looking to find a consistent method...

Thanks for that. It does provide some framework of what is possible... and I suppose if a track can go .020 slower... another might go .020 faster, resulting in a .040 variances.
I think a huge source of frustration once you own a track is the physical and visual variables seem so small... yet...
Thanks, Kinser.
The reason I haven't jumped in yet is it's still my son's activity. (Yeah... right?) - So after last year, it was a plan of building the shop out then getting a track. I don't work for 4+ months in the off-season (October - Feb)... on it was better to plan it for his Scouts...
Hmmm... good thought. I've noticed vibration is deadly. I've found running three cars is a lot different than running one.
DD4H, just so I'm clear, you still let it spin though, right? So, lube and shine like the other three?

This has been one of the best little nuggets I've mined off this board. While tuning I started reducing the gap... then I went back to easing it. The results were like a smack upside the head. Tighter was faster... I barely get a side-to-side click when I check the gap on my wheels. Any looser...
