    You at least need a tuning board of some sort. You can get fast without a track, you just need to be methodical and take notes. Experience helps a ton! I always built a car along with my kids as a test mule. If it worked good on my car we incorporated it into their cars the next year.

    Quite a bit of speed to be found in wheels and axles. It wouldn't hurt to ask for some pointer from the winners. At worst, the don't say anything. Fyi- All the info you need to be fast is here.

    John is definitely giving good advice on the alignment issues. The stock Awana wheelbase makes for a terrible handling car. You definitely need to get those rears pushed to the rear for next year. About 3 yrs ago Awana switched suppliers for their wheels and kits. That alone could account for...

    Yes, this is called negative can't. Yes, this is called positive cant. This is called steer. 4-6 degrees is typical Put a slot in the head(k-house groove) of the axle so you can twist it with a screwdriver to adjust steer. 1" wouldn't be enough, the rule of thumb is start at 4"/4 feet.
