    Hole in car... Cheating?

Exactly!!! I was talking to the second place pack finisher's Dad and he told me the work he and the boys did to the car. I know how much time my son spent at the drill press polishing axles and on the tuning board. I have a picture of the district winners' cars. I can tell by looking at them...

How our Pack race went. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly...

Congrats!!! This was our first year winning a PWD event. My tiger cleaned up in his den and pack. My daughter placed third in the sibling race. I was ecstatic for them.

    Hole in car... Cheating?

This was our first trip to districts. The guy doing the announcing and starting was great. sine of his first words were Rule 1: Have fun, turn to your parents and tell them Rule 1. I find it amusing parents need to be reminded to have fun. I find it disturbing they lack sportsmanship.

    Hole in car... Cheating?

The more I read on here about scout racing the more I'm reminded of the lack of sportsmanship. I made sure my son (Wolf) told the second place car owner in his den that the car was fast. It's just as important to be a gracious winner.

Wooden Track, Broken Axle Slot, “Cheating”, Post-race Inspection, this race had it all.....

That is s crazy experience. Scouting is filled with plenty of great people. However, I think done become a little too self righteous and really make it intolerable and unbearable for the rat of us. We didn't start building until we had the rules in hand. I had rules in hand at the pack and...

Which axle bending jig to use?

Thanks. That validates the initial thoughts I had regarding this. I'm really not sure I want to do that as I'm not sure I can defend it to our district judges. I did not stick around for the post race inspection of the winning cars, but there was a lot of pre-race scrutiny regarding wheels...

Son won pack, now to deal with district rules

I compared our four run total (and the winners' four run total) and we have a long way to go. I'm not sure what length track we have (either a 35' or 42' best track). I will say the district host track looked pretty beat compared to our pack's track. Either way, I'm not deterred as I know we...

Son won pack, now to deal with district rules

Congratulations on your win. Thank you for posting the race results with times. When I compare our district times to yours I can see we have a lot of room to improve as we are seconds off the mark.

Which axle bending jig to use?

Our district does not allow us to drill axle holes. We are bound to use the pre-cut slots. Therefore, I have to bend the axles. This past year I used the derbyworx press and let my son hammer the axles to ~1.5* - 2.5*. I'd like to buy a jig and was wondering about suggestions and opinions...

    Two Grams Light

We were approximately 3 grams light at our pack event. I left it alone and we won the event. I also left it alone for districts, but wish I would've added the extra weight. We did not place, but the extra weight would've been the difference in the car winning some of his heat races. Going...

Building a scout car outside of the Northern Star Council

Those are pretty much the same as our district rules. I am not risking it with drilling above the slots as we have additional verbiage regarding it. It would be great to do so because the slots are not perpendicular to the body. I do plan on adding material to the front after removing from the...

    Postmortem Cheating Discussion

Our district rules specifically state the winning cars will be held for a post race inspection. We did not build the car until we had the rules in hand. I look at it this way, "What message does it send to a child if their parent is willing to cheat?" As far as the child's participation, I...
