Need help finishing a four on the floor car.

Thanks for the input guys. My mind is going in another direction though. High wheel is usually drilled high to insure carrying the wheel, but if drilled straight across and if I put an aggressive steer axle in one front side, the other side will carry a little. I had a practice drill block...

Need help finishing a four on the floor car.

I have to deal with this, this season. How do you lower the fourth wheel to just barely touching? And not effect the steer? Thanks!

Milling weight pockets with Proxxen TBM 115

I bought a mini-mill from micro mark to use as a mill for cutting weight pockets and as a drill press. You can also use it to cut ladder slots. Use a dremel on a stand for axles and a small battery powered hand drill for slow speed wheel bor polishing.

How to Steer Drilled Axle Holes

Yep, I have one but the little rascals (axles) are still not easy to measure to the exact degree of angle. Having fun adjusting my bender to get measurable increments. Still loads of fun for me and many things to discuss with the boys on their cars.

How to Steer Drilled Axle Holes

I agree 3 degrees is not enough. I think I started bending my steering axles about 5 degrees and since have increased that from input from this awesome forum. The greatest challenge is to try to measure your axle angles. I have a very nice bender but it doesn't tell me my finished angle...

Teflon Spray vs Pledge with Graphite

Charles, would you use the Sailkote if prepping for oil? I have been running all Graphite till now but want to test a new car with oil and am wondering about the axle prep? Txs!

    scout car cog and weights

Haven't had to build 4 wheel touching but my picture is a tale of two designs. Gold Rush on the left is a domed racer with cylinder weights that are moveable. It is a sub 3 racer. Orange Crush on the right is a weight pocket wedge design about 5/8" thick and can carry 12 cubes behind the rear...

Teflon Spray vs Pledge with Graphite

Only silicone additive I have used is Sailkote. That was on top of axles prepped with wet paper and cloth from 800 to 12k and dd4h polish, cleaned with alcohol and then sailkote. Sorry, haven't tried pledge as comparison.

Hello, anyone ever rubbed a polished axle with tephlon tape? Spin the nail in the drill and hold th

Not sure about that. I have had good local results taking axles in a Drexel tool on a stand, bevel the heads contact surface about 5 degrees and cleaning burrs from shafts with a file, then using progressive grits of Emory paper wet to 12k to the back of the head and area shaft that will contact...

    securing weight

Sorry it has been awhile since I last posted on this. I since received a couple of 3M VHB tape samples. One was #4926 and another #4936. Also used a primer stick #94. The weight bay must be painted for the tape to stick best. 3M says VHB not designed to adhere to raw wood. So I used the...

    securing weight

I will have to get back on this. I snagged some at my business and am on vacation and don't know the number of the tape (think it is 4032). I am trying to find out or get a recommendation from the 3M tech folks. I didn't realize there were so many also. Will be back as soon as I can but...
