    Box Stock Wheel Runout

I’m was so glad to see that 2nd place car do so well since we had to do a last minute wheel and axle swap an hour before the race. The car was checked in last minute and was built according to last year’s BASX rules. It had some DD4H Dynasty 93s and Terminator wheels. It seemed like a legit oops...

    Box Stock Wheel Runout

Staying a legit Box Stock car was a tough one, but Bob managed to pull out the win at the Area Council (webcast) race. Thanks for all the advice guys!

    About car body materials...

Buying axles is a definite time saver and I love lathing my own wheels.

    About car body materials...

That’s good because I spent more time this year on one Box Stock car than any other car I’ve ever built.

    About car body materials...

~5.1 grams for the 0.008 stuff without adhesive, but it’s relatively easy to offset any weight difference (if any) with getting the pre skinned body as light as possible with a little extra weight stuffed in the back. I can’t tell you how much weight I shoot for on my DFW, but it’s definitely...

    About car body materials...

I haven’t raced outside of Scouts yet in fear of getting addicted, but have built a ton of cars. I’ve tried the standard monokote and ply route until getting into the carbon fiber thing. After dialing in the carbon skinned stick built cars, I'm able to get the DFW weights identical. Just an FYI...

    Box Stock Wheel Runout

Will do and it already brought a bunch of haters out at races this past weekend. Bob isn’t racing until the grand finals next weekend, but two people already challenged me saying it wasn’t “of wood construction”. At least I’m leading the post-race inspection so it’ll be a fun one this year.

    Box Stock Wheel Runout

My boy named his car Bob and it’s always fun building a killer looking car with him. He started off thinking form was more important than function until he realized what it would take to get a shot at the title, but it sure is nice when you’re able to print whatever he’s able to dream up.

    Axle Prep

Luckily I’ve got two cans to choose from because that stuff is a nightmare to get in California without paying a crazy price.

    Box Stock Wheel Runout

That’s exactly what I do and have had great success with it. I must say it’s a lot easier dealing with lathed wheels though.

    Box Stock Wheel Runout

I always try to triple what I’m working on and just except the fact that something is gonna get tossed. Now I have so much stuff that it only makes sense to move on to bigger things after the Scout racing is over.

    Wheel Rules Interpretation

You’re absolutely right on that because you should’ve seen the face of a dad who entered his $200+ BASX outlaw get spanked by the box stock blue and yellow car in my profile pick. Its hard to believe it, but that car has just over 14 grams on the front wheel. It’s basically a balsa and 1/64...

I found that out the hard way unfortunately.

    Wheel Rules Interpretation

I’m the only person familiar enough with this stuff so I’ll be the one taking measurements and weighing things. And you’re right about the intentional cheating thing, but some parents just seem to buy stuff thinking a wheel is just a wheel. I saw that at our pack races the last couple years, but...
