Here are our 2 new scout cars for this year, hope after wheel and axle prep they will be fast.
The Domino is "Fast delivery" and the other is "Eruption" any guitar players know where the inspiration
for that one came from? /post/[IMG]http:/i1362.photobucket.com/albums/r694/plhiatt/DSCN1845_zps6236a562.jpg[/IMG]/post/<a href=

Cool cars!!! Love the Eddie style guitar and the Dominos is great...Hope no body has a Jimmy Johns Car, I heard they were fast too

Beauties!
I like the way the white stripe continues onto the fender!

Thanks, this is my first time making thin cars (thin for us). It is fun trying to think of cool ways to paint them to keep some interest with the kids. I really like shaping and working the fenders that was my first time with them. I made them out of some basswood.

And Eddie was "Bad Ash" with it!!! HAHA

If you did not already do it, make sure you clearance the fenders on the bottom inside area so the fenders will not rub on the track rail.

Nice looking cars. I am a big VH fan.

Oh yeah, I got all that cut out and sanded. I actually glued with yellow glue and used a micropinner (23 gauge) nailer to hold till the glue set. Then I finished the sanding and cut away what would rub with a multi tool (the vibrating type saw) they actually came out really well. It did not take long at all to make and install the fenders. A fostner drill bit and a few well thought out cuts with a band saw and then finish up with the multi-tool.

Gotta love that multi tool.

I resisted it for awhile but it is well worth the money.

Very clean lines! Awesome job, they should be fast!

What kind of painter's tape did you use?

I used tape from a auto body supply place. I think it was 3m stripping tape.
Most of the striping came out okay, but I did learn some things to make the next job easier.
I was using the lacquer paints from duplicolor and if you spray them to heavily over the tape the paint
will "bite" too hard. It will sort of crawl under the tape lines due to the fact that this type of finish melts in to the previous coats. I does not matter how well or hard you apply the tape. So I found out lighter applications work well, no flow coats on the color.
Just put more of a flow coat on the clear.
