The really cool thing is that my son did 66% of the build this year as Wolf. Much to the chagrin of my wife, I supervised him VERY CLOSELY when he used the bandsaw, drill press and power belt sander. He chose the design, hand sanded it, polished the axles, balanced 2 of the wheels ( I showed him on the first one, he did the next 2, and the last was already balanced), primed it, sanded it, primed again. The painting was a mix of him and me.The fine line tape lifted up the yellow in the stripes so I retouched that for him. Final tuning on the track was me. He really enjoyed the build this year. My wife is still on my case because I let him use power tools. My counterpoint was he needs to learn it.
My wife designs her own cars and has me cut them out. The paint and artistic design are ALL hers. Tuning on the track is my baliwick. Hers ran a 2.60. I had to detune mine from 2.54 to 2.61. Like I said, obsessed, yes, stupid, no.
