2012 Man of the Mountain Championship Race

The new pinewood derby season is upon us and the end of the Professional Circuit is here. Now is your chance to test your skills against the very best in Pinewood Derby and have your shot at glory! If you just race the scout races then this is a great chance to see your car broadcast live racing against the top competition and see just how good your car is before your pack races. This is the hardest title in Pinewood Derby to claim. Everyone is invited to race and become the next Man of the Mountain! All leagues are invited to come and display their talent level! Don’t miss your chance to be involved in the biggest Pinewood Derby race of 2012.

When: Preliminary qualifying begins Friday November 30[sup]th[/sup] at 5:00pm Mountain Time. The Championship rounds will continue on Saturday December 1[sup]st[/sup] at 10:00am Mountain Time.

Classes: Street Stock, Street Pro, Eliminator, Unlimited, Street Rod. (Street Rod will not count towards the overall Man of the Mountain Title) All class rules are posted at www.npwdrl.com

Prizes: Winners of each class will be crowned Man of the Mountain winner for their class and receive trophies and prizes. The overall winner will be crowned from a running point total they accumulate from each class. Scoring will be: 1[sup]st[/sup]- 11, 2[sup]nd[/sup]- 9, 3[sup]rd[/sup]- 7, 4[sup]th[/sup]- 5, 5[sup]th[/sup]- 4, 6[sup]th[/sup] -3, 7[sup]th[/sup]- 2, 8[sup]th[/sup]- 1 point. The builder can only earn 1 points spot with his fastest car.

Who: Everyone is invited to race in any class and can race as many cars as you would like in each class.

Where: The race is being held in the new Pinewood Performance Shop located at: 1684 Range Rd, Saratoga Springs, UT 84045. You are welcome to come live or ship your cars in to this address and race proxy. If you are proxy racing please visit www.npwdrl.com for an entry form. YOU MUST SEND: Entry form, preprinted prepaid return mailing label from www.usps.com, proper shipping containers like the Legend shipping boxes at www.derbydad4hire.com. Please avoid shiiping methods that require lots of hardware or tape!

NEW RULE FOR THE EVENT: Tuning board tuning will be allowed in between rounds! We will set up a tuning board cam so the proxy racers can get somebody live to make adjustments in between rounds to their cars if they choose. We want the very best performance from every racer.

Format: Each round will be a 4 run average. If you accumulated 50 points or more during the NPWDRL season then you prequalify and do not have to run in the 1[sup]st[/sup] Elimination round. After each round of racing the top racer(s) move up to fill the open spots in the next round. All Street Rod racers will race together. Here are the prequalified racers for each class.

There will probably be a couple of builders whos name appear in one of the groups, IF ONE OF THOSE NAMES DO NOT ENTER A CAR, then I suggest that you allow an extra car to move up.

E.G. Say Kinser (who is in several Championship groups) were not to enter a car in SS. Then allow an addition car to move up from the semifinal round.

PS --- This is nt meant as a slight to Kinser. He may show up, and if so, odds are that he would win MOTH again. I only used him as an example because he has not appear at the last several races.

Second Question: I am listed in several championship rounds (as are several othr builders). If OPA and GoatBoy enter 3 cars in the Unlimited class, that would increasee the number of cars racing in the Championship round, to possibly 12 or 15 cars. Is that the plan?

A builder can race as many cars as he likes. We could have 40 cars in the Championship rounds. This will be a lot of racing that is why i am starting Friday night. If a prequalified builder does not show then another spot will open up for the qualifying round before. Say if Kinser doesn't race, then the top 2 from the Semi final round will move up.

I really hope everyone understands that you did not have to qualify for this event. That is the beauty of the Man of the Mountain race. Someone that has not even raced a single NPWDRL event could walk away with a Man of the Mountain trophy. Each class will have a "Man of the Mountain" winner as well as an overall champion. So please, if your a PWD racer, get a car or 2 sent in to make this 1 of the biggest and best events of the PWD season. Hope to see everyone enjoy these cars and we need to support people like John that put these races on for us.

[SG3 Racing]

Guys its hard for me to say but Blue Thunder has had its last ride, broke while trying to remove tape to adjust

some weight.

Been a solid SS car for me all year. Now that the biggest race is only a week away

and needed to have shipped by Monday only leaves me to wonder what to do.

I can only think of one

thing, bad for me but good for the top contenders in SS.

Why doesn't the Street Rod class count in the overall Man of the Mountain title? Anyone who has ever tried to build one of these knows that they are challenging to say the least!
