This is my first tournament, I got a couple questions about the final championship race.

1. Does the top 7 from each qualifier go to the final race? Or is it just the top 7 overall from each class at the end of this 3rd qualifier?

2. Are we limited to the amount of cars we can enter in the championship race?

Ted, I understood it was the top seven from here (after tonight's race):

http://npwdrl.com/2013-street-stock-am-man-of-the-mountain-pinewood-derby-standings/

go straight into the finals.

8th through 15th place on the list make the semi's

Anyone else that enters the championship race has to race the prelims, only one car transfers to the semi's, then the "winner" in the semi's transfers to one open spot in the finals to face the top seven points earners from the qualifiers.

I'll see if I can't find the post I read.....BRB.

This is what I read:

The way the Man of the Mountain is set up everyone can race in the Championship race. The better you finish in the qualifiers, the less races you have to win and the better chance you have to win the title.

It is broken down this way.

The top 7 points leaders automatically are qualified for the championship round of 8 total builders.

Championship round:
1. Racer1
2.Racer2
3.Racer3
4.Racer4
5.Racer5
6.Racer6
7.Racer7
8. OPEN SPOT

The next 7 points leaders are automatically qualified for the Semi Final round.

Semi Final Round:
1. Racer8
2.Racer9
3.Racer10
4.Racer11
5.Racer12
6.Racer13
7.Racer14
8. OPEN SPOT

All other racers will go into a qualifier round that will race for the open 8th spot in the Semi Final Round. The winner of the Semi Final takes the OPEN SPOT in the Championship round.

STREET ROD will skip the Semi Final Round. STREET ROD will NOT count towards the overall Champion.

Each car entered through the tournament will give you another chance to win a 2 lane 42' Best Track with a Champ timer that will be drawn for at the Championship race.

Whatever Street Stock class you start in is what you will race for the entire tournament. You will be moved to the pro classification if you are using a pre built car from the vendors. We do not want people buying cars and racing them in the Am class. If you have been put in the Pro status because of this and want to move back I will allow that but please build your own cars if you are racing Am. Also if you have been league racing for years and can run the times that will qualify you as a pro but have not raced at NPWDRL then please do not enter the Am class.

For purposes of my clarification. I'm modifying the above chart a slightly. Correct me if I'm wrong.

A racer is automatically qualified to the Championship Round of racing if they are sitting in the Top 7 in points after the last qualifying round of racing, prior to this event. An 8th and final qualifying spot will be available to the racer who wins a Semi-Finals Round of racing that day.

Championship Round:
1. Racer 1
2. Racer 2
3. Racer 3
4. Racer 4
5. Racer 5
6. Racer 6
7. Racer 7
8. Winner of the Semi-Finals Round

The next 7 racers, in the 8th thru 14th position in points, are automatically qualified into the Semi-Final Round for that class, to vie for the 8th and final spot in the Championship Race. An 8th and final qualifying position into the Semi-Finals Round is available to the winner of the Quarter-Finals Round of racing.

Semi-Final Round:
9. Racer 8
10. Racer 9
11. Racer 10
12. Racer 11
13. Racer 12
14. Racer 13
15. Racer 14
16. Winner of the Quarter-Finals Round

Quarter-Finals Round:

All other racers that have not filled one of the spots above starting at the 15th place and below, prior to today's event, will have a chance to make the Semi-Finals Round. Racers will then race a Quarter-Finals Round to vie for the 8th and final spot in the Semi-Finals Round. That winner is then eligible to move forward to the Semi-Finals Round of racing.

The overall winner of the Championship Race will then be crowned the MOTM Winner for that class.

It will be interesting to see how much change if any will happen with the points standings.

in the October race I ran a 2.9826 is that a good time for a first time racer?
Yes, that is very good for your first time.
clap

I think it would be a little easier with a track available to try new things and to really dial in the steer.

I am eager to see how the standings change up after this last race.

DEW, congrats! Looks like you earned a tie on points and a berth straight into the finals!

My first race was the nationals, I averaged 3.0002. I was really looking to get a sub3 badge. Missed it by THAT much! At the second race I went 2.975x's and won first place! After seeing my car run last night, looks like I had Beginner's Luck! I think I got road rash from my skid down the standings! lol!

Thanks Bracket! I am surprised, I really wasn't expecting to make it. I really need to find some more speed now.

You and me both buddy! I need back what I lost and then some!

So the current leaders standing is based on points and not average time right?. In the last race its whoever crosses the finish line first that wins the tournament right? And the points are only used for qualifying and the overall winner of the tournament?

Also why does street rod not count towards points? Just curious?

And, the top 50. Is that based on points or average time?
