2013 NPWDRL Season Preview!

I always heard what do you call 99 fords and 1 chevy in a parking lot..................................A junkyard and a way to get home.

Car and Driver did some research and found that 76% of Chevrolets sold between 1960 and 2000 are still on the road. The other 24% finally made it home!

Ya but have you seen the new Ford Trucks are coming equipped with heated tailgates??? That way when you have to push them home in the cold you hands stay warm..

The Street Rod Truck class seems like it will be a lot of fun. Can we assume that the model truck kits that have been mentioned so far are acceptable, or is that still being decided? How soon will the official rules be posted? Thanks.

It seems 2013 will be a shorter year than 2012. Only four season races (JAN, FEB, MAR, APR) and a championship race in June. AM I reading that right?

Tony,
You are correct. the first part of the new season is shorter. Nothing is set in stone and John is still collecting opinions on how to shape the 2013 season. But the thoughts behind the new dates mostly stems from the idea that summertime is the busy time for families. Let me elaborate, John in his years of running leagues has noticed a pattern. That is being during the summer months "i.e. during kids summer vacations and good weather" people schedule are busy with outdoor activities. Families travel, kids are in sports, guys and gals take on projects such as home improvements and other hobbies associated to summer. Thus reducing participation in league racing. During winter or fall months we are stuck inside our shops and homes which forwards us the time to work on our cars coupled with Scout pinewood season from Dec-Mar. As you can see the season ends in June "beginning of summer break" but will start again in Nov and go through the winter months until June of 2014. It is just the transitional season that will be shorter until NPWDRL gets fully on track.. Your opinions are Valuable as racers here and now is the time to chime in. Like I said this is a work in progress but to be set soon..
Hope this helped... Have a good one

Thanks Dave and it makes sense now. We need to have a shorter 2013 to get the 2013-2014 season on track... NOV 2013 to June 2014... 7 season races and the MOTM in June. That's 8 months out of 12 for league racing. Enough for anybody. I like it.

I talk to John today, he has got them!! One unforeseen problem is that the cab and the bed are separate pieces. He is working on figuring how to mount it. I think he will try to have some pictures as soon as possible. I know he has been working extremely hard on getting every ones orders out. So it might be a few.

Two years ago, at large family reunion, we made a special class that had to use the PineCar truck block, with a weight of 7 oz. Rear wheels had to be wide, front wheels could be anything, except bearings were not allowed. Everyone use wheels similar to our Elim wheels. The outside shape of the Truck Block had to remain the same, but we were allowed to hollow out the inside any way we wanted. We ended up with about 20 entrants, and that class was the fastest, probably because of the 7 oz weight. The car I built was completely hollow, with the front and rear windows flow thru, as well as a large entry hole in the radiator. These blocks can be purchased for under 8 dollars, but w/o wheels or axles, which if we did this at NPWDRL we would not want. My rear wheels were SP and the front were Eliminator. One of my son's car took first, but he had cut the nose diagonal from the windshield to the bottom of the radiator. I protested that he had altered the front end shape, and should be DQ'ed. The family council overruled me, probably because I use bearings on what we caled the Razor class. No one else knew bearings existed, so they overruled my protest.

If we did something like this, it would be inexpensive, yet allow a lot of inovation.

OK here are your body choices for the Street Rod class. The Truck kit's proved to be to time consuming and difficult to mount. So you have three muscle cars to choose from. You don't have to buy from here on the link, but the cars must be made by AMT, and the 1/25 scale.
Here is you Ford offering,
