2014 Wrap up

Man that was great racing this weekend. The missing boxes really dampened my spirits but it was a great event. It was awesome to have JBD and Bullet fly in and join us. Wish we could have spent more time together. THey are great racers and the fact that Bullet took several 2nd place finishes in his first season was possibly the greatest rookie season ever.

2014 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR... BULLET RACING DESIGNS!

A huge shout out to Quicktime Derby for his dominant day and for all the help he is to making this series go. Also a huge thank you to the guys that help every month, Cam Car, Skippy, Kinser, TRE and the rest of the race crew. It takes all the help I can get to make this happen.

I want to once again thank all the racers that support us. We are working hard at building the new race location into the ultimate pinewood derby venue. I want the ones that are able to join us live to enjoy every second of the experience.

Moving forward to 2015... we have a few new wrinkles coming. The preliminary dates are set for the first 4 months with the entire year finalized shortly. The Amateur classification for SS will be moved to BASX. There will be a few other touches to the rules but nothing drastic there.

Nationals will be held in conjunction with the Mid America event in April! This will be a HUGE event and one to come live to for sure.

It will only continue to improve from here! Please tell us any thing you would like to see (within reason!)

Great job to John and his crew for another outstanding event.

For my input, I'd like to see the specialty classes (i.e. Governor and Snail Wars) a couple times per year. I don't think its something to be run every month, but every now and then. I would love to see the Snail Wars at the Nationals. I'm planning on being there live, I think I can dial that baby in if I can give it a couple test runs.

Congrats again on a great season!

I heard there has been talk of a slow motion finish line camera.

That would be sweet to see how crazy close some of these races really are!

Great. Perfect opportunity for John to add in a "*squeak* *squeak* *squeak*" sound effect as my car crosses the finish... /images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif

We will run them for sure at Nationals.

As far as the finish line cam, every attempt I have made has failed. It would require another person to film the race tracking the cars from a side angle. I am not sure I can commit to this but I will try and see if I can find someone willing to do it.

If I can get there you know I will do it!!! I have a couple of good cameras I can use but I am not sure about my attendance. I need details on that??? ThanX

Keep the GVNR class each month. You had 14 cars in the first time ever (Maybe even almost 20 with the missing boxes (my GVNR car included is the lost boxes).
A GVNR car is quite inexpensive, but the class leaves a lot to be learned. I would like to experiment a lot more on my car, but not if it won't become a regular class.
If you ran it each month, it would quickly match BASX in number of entries.

Never thought about the GVNR class being and inexpensive option. Makes sense since you could get away with using cheap lead or the zinc/nickel weights.

Specialty classes are special and should remain limited just like Zeebzob said. To many classes will cause them to get spread thin. I don't think you're going to get a ton more people racing because they can save $15 on reusable tungsten. JM2C

Thanks for a Great racing experience DD4H. We really loved the BASXs class & also the GVNRs class. I think we should
let the enter numbers speak for them self. If we want derby racing to get bigger we have to be willing to grow with the
sport. If the numbers are not there then cancel the class (I think the numbers will be there). In NASCAR they say if your not getting Bigger your getting smaller. Thanks again to everyone as we get ready for scout pack racing Jan 25. Don't worry
will send in a new car or 2 also to your race. Merry XMAS and have a Happy New Year !!!
