2019 Awana Grand Prix is in the books. The Cup comes home again!

To be honest most of the folks running the Awana races are there just for the fun. It’s very loosey goosey and they just don’t know any better. They probably think folks like us are off our rocker! Lol I know I was the only person there darting to the timer to see the times of our cars after each heat. No one else could have cared less.
I don’t even think any of our racers want to go to regionals. In our text thread one parent replied they weren’t going as they already roasted their car in the fire pit while making s’mores. Lol
Ya a lot of the people in our pack were like that too. They would probably think I was completely insane if they knew how many hours we had into our car. We still have all of his scout and awana cars, even the first couple that were real snails.

Nice work Jimmy. You have to find a way over here for State. Someone at regionals will be going. Give them $10 for gas and carpool! As for the black car, I would suggest a combination of poor weighting and minimal lubrication.

Hmmm? I did that once with a fireplace...NOT on purpose though...haha
Chief, when I give my build presentation to packs, I use your story. LOL

The topic starts off about baking cars, and not doing that anymore because it messes with the alignment, so it is better to just keep away from any heat source... then I mention how your car was close to the fireplace and WHOOSH ! ! ! ( I have a picture of a corvette up in flames, instead of your car.)

That happened right about the time I started racing

That was a stand up move setting your car out at finals giving another racer a chance at the next level! :)
You are too kind. Lol
Our cars really just shred the others at our Awana GP and each year I feel more and more guilty. I worry some folks will want to stop racing. Just seemed like the right thing to do. I try to help folks with the video and at pit nights with wheel and axle prep and will do more of that next year.

I watched your video last night and thought it was pretty good.

Hey thanks man... as I look back I will totally switch up what I did for next year and just do a series of short demo vids of each major step. And then do Saturday workshops.
I appreciate your kind words!
So while I have your attention... I may not go to the SE MI Regionals to race due to not really wanting to switch our cars to graphite but I may go just to meet those folks and have a fun day of it and see if anyone from our area are heading for States so I can car pool and come race with you guys there. We’ll see...
didn’t you say you were going to Kent City?

I personally have to work as it's our busy season(greenhouses), but three of my kids will be racing. There is a very small chance I could make it myself, however I have my car registered for Mid America already.
