So I am looking to get DD4H's axles for the first time. They will be on a BASX and a SS AM car. Which ones do you guys like using the most? I know it is pretty subjective about which is best to use. I am still debating between the 92x or the 93x. Anyone using the 94x?

Ok for a follow up question. Do you still start with 400 grit when polishing with these axles? do you skip to a higher grit since they don't have crimp marks to file off?

Using Micromesh pads, I start with 1500 for no more than 20 to 30 seconds, then 1800, 2400, 3200, 3500, 4000, 6000, 8000 up to 12000 grit, with each grit being used longer in duration. If I'm not mistaken, 1500 is equivalent to 400 grit sandpaper. We all have our secrets after the 12,000 grit micromesh pad though. My secret is not worth sharing since I have not won anything yet...

That new axle polish of Johns cuts a lot of that sanding out. And the stuff is good, good, good.
I think it is called Kick Axle Polish.
Use 600 or 1000 for a few seconds,
I then used 6000 OR 8000 for another three seconds,
Leather strap with Kick Axle, and they shine like mirrors.
I still use JIG afterwards.

With that polish, you can used the 600 to get them to your preferred OD, then quick 6000, Jig, and your done.

OPA ...... In terms of leather, do you use the rough side or smooth side? Also, do you like smooth top grains, chamois, or full grain?

Thanks!

Both. First rough. But with water on the leather, a lot of the paste sinks thru to the other side.
So I turn the leather over to the smooth side. Go again, which pushes the liquid back to the rough side.
Then I finish up on the rough.
