For the new guys and the veterans. Don't just assume your prep is bad. I spent a long time tonight prepping my wheels, trying to follow every little step as though Kinser was over my shoulder watching....LOL. The end result once I hit the track was terrible. After a half dozen runs the car just stank. I just assumed I messed something up in my prep process. I pulled the wheels and axles crawled into the fetal position. Once I regained my composure I put my test set of wheels and axles on my car ran it down the track. Same thing, only I new they should be running faster after watching them perform this past weekend on a test body. So I slow rolled the car down the track and I immediately caught what was wrong. My FDW fender was barely touching. You could only hear it and see it with a slow roll. Thank you John for doing that at the CFC....what a neat trick. Needless to say I got the car back together but the prep was compromised with some stupid things I did after I pulled the wheels. It is running ok but I wished I would have caught my mistake earlier. Every stinking car is a new challenge. I guess the moral of the story is to check every possible angle on the car before you assume your prep is bad.

I agree 100%!! The slow roll to me is one of my most important steps in my tuning process. It allows you to see things and hear things you can't pick up at full speed. One thing I have also learned this year doing a lot more proxy racing is trying to make sure the rear of the body is centered on the track on those slow rolls. It is so much easier for the stagger to be able to just center the rear of the car than try and figure out some of the staging instructions. The way to get the rear of you car centered is by adjusting the FDW in or out with spacers. If the rear dominate side is closer on the slow roll move the FDW in closer to the body. Move the FDW away from the body if the non dominate side is closer. Doing this should also help keep the rear wheels from ever contacting the rail.

Get rid of your fenders!!! They are not needed unless you like wiggling cars.

But I shipped my car already.....Rick don't you think you could have shared that information sooner.
