I thought we were getting away from pipe cleaners? I was expecting No Scratch Wheel Bore Applicators in this new kit.

So...does the Rocket Fuel require the Black Ice process to be faster, or will it be faster for those who still have Red Rocket as well?

From what I read, you need the black ice and follow all of the instructions he provides to get full speed of the new oil.
When I look at my own history, I am much faster than I was a year ago, and I have not significantly changed any of the products that I use. What I am constantly changing is how I apply those products. Is "Black Ice" faster? Who knows; I'm sure it will be for some. It might be slower for others. Same with the different oils that are coming out. I could not get hat D-1 oil to run for me. I'm sure it works for someone, but their application is probably quite different than mine. I just bought off on the D-1 hype. The only way anyone is going to know if Black Ice is faster is by trying it, and figuring out the proper method of application. I will say John left a very detailed set of instructions, which when I read them, started me thinking about my own process and possible ways to improve it. There is chance is does not work as well; same with John's new oil. I bet anyone this - it works for John.
Pipe cleaners - that is part of the application of a product (e.g. Novus2). There is nothing wrong with pipe cleaners as long as you do not scratch your bore. Some folks have migrated away from pipe cleaners for various reasons and now use a different application process for the same product, to protect the bores. In all of the different items used to polish a bore (pipe cleaners, no scratch applicators, q-tip stalks, etc.), there is a different effect due to the material, pressure in the bore, etc. I'm personally not a fan of pipe cleaners or q-tip stalks, only because they did not work for me, but it does not mean it will not work for you. As for my own process, I'm a creature needing feedback throughout my prep process (statistical, measurable, visual, or otherwise), and as such, have purchase tools that help me evaluate my axle and bore prep, so I can tell if I have made an improvement or if I am regressing before it makes it to the car. Watch the Lightning Boy video; that's a great example of what I am referring to.
I'm not trying to hide how I prep my cars (not that I have anything worth hiding), but I would bet any top racer would say is application of whatever you are using is half of the battle. And yes, I bought two bottles of John’s new oil…for testing. Sorry for the rant, but just sharing what I know to be true, that application can be just as much of a factor (or more of a factor) as the products you use when it comes to speed.
