what class would you guys suggest a beginner start in? i have only built one car in my life. my son and i built it for his pack race. we did take 1st so i think im on the right track. plus any tips on if i should cant, rail ride, or just start simple? i think i would like to break in slow until i could get more experience. thanks in advance

N-hawk,
Most guys getting into it starts in Street Stock.. This is the closest to BSA/scout cars you are familiar with building. Same wheelbase and dimensions.
Street Pro is kinda of like your Open division scout/dad racing. Any wheel base and after market equipment. All the rules and regulations is posted on the NPWDRL web site www.npwdrl.com Hope to see you on the track soon,

Take it easy.

If you want to build similar to your Scout car then the Street Stock Class is the closest to that. You will find this to be very helpful - http://forums.derbydad4hire.com/post/Going-4-Sub-3.0-by-Wracing-5597549

Check out the other classes and jump in! Ask questions, you will get all the info you need to be sucessful.

Good Luck!

Street Stock! As for how to set up your cars, if you read most of the threads on this forum and use that info you will be somewhat competitive right away. The info is here and most of the question's have been answered. Educate yourself and we'll be glad to help you along the way.

As a side note, and not specifically directed at you, I sometimes feel reluctant to share some hard earned knowledge when people make little to no effort to read what's already been posted. Fill your mind, ponder, and then ask.

Please don't feel apologetic. We like to give out info and we care to make you faster to a certain point. /images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif If you were able to follow the board as I do, you would see many of the same questions being asked over and over. That's not necessarily bad it's just a good indication that people seem to be more inclined to just ask rather than search. It's also not that you must do that. It just really helps us help you when you have some knowledge, to help you ask the important questions. I hope that makes sense without sounding snobbish, which is not my intention. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

not snobbish at all. thanks again

I disagree. If you start with SS, you get creamed in your first few races, no matter how much you may know outside of league racing. Go ahead and submit your best SS, but to have fun and get excited, also put together:

Easiest to start is Unlimited, but costly because of the wheels.

Not so costly is Eliminator.
