THIS IS GEARED TO THE GUYS WHO DO PAINT CARS. ALBEIT, I'M NOT NEARLY AS FAST AS I SHOULD BE, ONE THING I HAVE USED ON MY CARS IN ORDER TO GET THAT CORRECT COG OR THE RIGHT WEIGHT IS TO USE CLEAR NAIL POLISH ON AREAS OF MY CARS TO GET THE COG WHERE I WANT IT. KNOWING HOW TO WETSAND AND POLISH ENABLED ME TO HIDE THIS, BUT IT REALLY IS A SIMPLE WAY WHEN YOU CLEAR A CAR TO USE THE NAIL POLISH WHEREVER YOU NEED IT TO MOVE THE COG TO YOUR DESISED SPOT.
I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE RACERS WHO PREFER NOT TO PAINT. HERE IS A TIP FOR YOU GUYS. ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR CAR TO WHATEVER GRIT YOU SAND IT TO TO HAVE IT RACE READY, USING A DREMEL OR ANOTHER TOOL OF THAT TYPE, USING THE WHITE COTTON BUFFING PAD, YOU CAN POLISH THE WOOD TO A SMOOTHER SLICKER FINISH WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE WEIGHT OF THE BODY. JUST SOME USELESS INFO FOR YOU GUYS TO CHEW ON..TAKE CARE MY FRIENDS!!

Donelson,
Based on the times I raced you, you are faster than you think!
Keep er on three wheels buddy!

Lets put it this way, Paul had me sweating when I raced him in the 2011 Nationals at the other league. He brought a car that came off the slope in a very quick fashion. That wiggle in that last race took him out. Otherwise, he might have took 1st place with a good run. That is racing!

I am not understanding what you are talking about with clear nail polish, and when preping a car to paint to what grit sanding paper do you use, and last are you talking about the white selvyt polishing cloth? I want our cars to look as smooth as possible, I have never wetsanded wood before. Last how is clear nail polish moving your cog.

Thanks
Richard

When you are talking about paint...you have opened another whole big world. It really depends on the type of paint. If you are going to use spray cans the finer the paper the better as the paint shrinks after it dries and you can see the wood grain in the paint job. I personally would use a minimum of 800 grit, but just for kicks I sanded a standard BSA block all the way to 2000 grit and it was super smooth...but I did not paint it!!! Hope that helps??
