Can't say enough about the info and candid (for the most part) answers to questions. John's products are excellent. Ben is a character. When we were building the car he helped with the dremel and the shaping and helped clean and polish the axles and wheels. He did as much as he could do, and I really appreciated the 5kids videos which convinced me that Ben could do it if we could keep him focused. He liked the racing much more than the build, of course.
Funny story about the color. Found the holographic vinyl after seeing it on another car built by a pro. Ben wanted pink (again this year) so I got the fushia thinking it was more red and "cooler" . When I helped him apply it (I did the exacto trimming) I said, you know Ben, we could call this car something cool like "ULTRAVIOLET"... without missing a beat he says, "No, Dad, It's ROSIE"... kid is a character...
As a dad with limited painting or fabricating skills, I love the vinyl applications. We are able to make a cool looking car that is fast - and we owe a lot of it to this forum (and John's products). I think we'll start sending cars in to the league to keep learning. Not sure Ben will be that into it, but I am enjoying it a lot. In fact, i finally got the mrs to approve construction and acquisition of a small wood working shop this season...picked up a scroll saw, drill press and a nice table top belt sander and we are in business. Now I just have to convince her to allow me to know out a wall downstairs for a test track...
