April novice car

Guys I like the playing around that's what makes everything fun and not serious.
I drilled my block with .172 or 11/64 drill blank. As far as the angle I really do not know.
Something helped my car out that's for sure. Maybe its just a better drill job. Some people say it will slow you down but mine helped. I know guys lots of factors here but something helped me. IF someone does this please let me know if it helps or hurts your car.

Hi SB,

You might have improved your drilling process. It seems like each time I drill I like the results better. The first 6 attempts were not so great for me, but I think I started improving after that.

It might be that you are onto something for everyone. Or it might just mean that you are onto what works for you.

I feel that after a certain amount of knowledge things start to become more subjective to the style of the builder. Like you said "there are many factors", and no two cars are the same.

If you are getting positive results for your cars then that is the goal.

BTW. I am a fun guy too. Thanks for posting your results.

Yes it will run next Sunday. But don't get your hopes up to high. Like I said it is faster than last time. Last time was 3.015 so a gain might just be 3.008. That's not fast for u guys but it's a gain for me. That's my goal is to improve just a little at a time.

Ah Speed Bump

Nice Car I can see it really nicely... It is a very cool car.... I can't wait to see her run.... COngrats on gaining some speed may it get you to SUB3...

SB,

I predict that you make sub 3 before the month is out.

That car has 2.993 written all over it.

Best of luck,
Joe

That last comment was meant as a compliment.

Perhaps I should have said 2.983?

Good looking car.

I like the aluminum can cars.

It is making art from garbage. The aluminum is about perfect for the job.

Brilliant idea Rocket. When are we going to see another thing like that?

I picked up these bamboo skewers at the grocery store.

Bamboo is where it is at. The bamboo derby will be taking over soon enough.

You heard it here first.

Best,
Joe

Laserman Thank you very much!!

Sub 3 is a goal of mine like I said before. Just said it would take the whole year But would be very happy if earlier.

Yep, HATS OFF to rocket car for the idea. I hate to steal a mans idea but could not stand to let that one get by me.

That's why I love this site. IDEAS IDEAS

Sincerest form of flattery.

It looks good.

If it were me I would take some steel wool or sandpaper to give it that beat-up/ distressed look to it around the edges.

I like a little more cant in my rears too. Like 5-6 degrees. A 1/8th rod under the Sliver Bullet should give about 4 degrees. I use 9/64th to get about 5.5. No real reason for this. As I dont have a track what I have is a spreadsheet with the stats and best time of ever car every made. I made a ho hum standard wheelbase car with rears canted with screws using the slots. It was much faster than expected, 2.99s in the scout race. Dont know the cant but there was clear daylight under the outside edge of the wheel. So I am with you SB when the rocks start flying.

Papa V

Wow! That guy is out there!
The form of axles he has going on looks like a friction magnet.
Otherwise it would be cool to try it with a BSA wheel.

Cool vid PapaV!

SpeedBump thanks for the larger view.

How large of a wheel gap do you have at the DFW? Looks minimal in the picture. Is the axle bent? Looks straight.

It's bent. Very small gaps. If I get any smaller it touches the washer and slows it down. Thanks guys for the comments!! Really enjoy this site.
