Well after sitting for hours and going through the build, the last race and thinking about district tomorrow I find myself restless and about as giddy as my son for this race. I know that it is in large part to many on this board that my son and I owe our success.

Recap of pack race ... 42 ft track 7 races avg 2.8932

I really don't know what to do other than add a little more graphite and make sure the wheels are clean. Hoping this bad boy will be in the running for some hardware...

Love that car man , and 2.89 is serious fast, how mad do you think the other 2 dads who built sub 3 second cars were /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Best of luck tomorrow cant wait to hear the war stories , My race is sunday wont be as fast as you but will try my best

I bet you are plenty fast for sure. ..I don't reckon The #2 car got too mad ..I built that for his dad...He is a good friend who just didn't have the time to invest in it and it is his boys last year in cub scouts. I appreciate the well wishes..I have never taken the number one spotat district, but this is on of our better builds... (with the help of my mentors on this site) I will be pulling for you and your gal as well.

Ours is tomorrow too. Always nervous for my scouts. Even after the first heat and seeing a good run i stay tense praying the cars dont have a crash. Our district uses a 8 lane track and you have to ho through 16 heats with prelims and finals.

Prayers go out ,,,I know you will do well

Just finished tuning this morning and had the boys practice staging. Usually we have everything all done a week early but i didnt like how the wheels looked after the pack race so we order 2 sets from DD4H. I got them very quick from john and were able to take our time prepping. Spring weather had us busy and the boys lose interest quick so i dont try to do too much in one sitting.

Got my emergency repair kit packed as well. Glue, graphite, drill, tuning screwdriver, and previous set of wheels.

I know how you guys feel. Our council race was last weekend two hours away and i could not make the trip. Waiting on updates seemed to take too long. The car ran a 2.893 and won first place. Good luck guys and let us know the outcome of the races.

Had a good day overall. I knew it would be tough with a big bodied car to do well at district. We ran pretty well though. 4th out of 56 racers (top 3 from 14 packs and alternates)so we did take home some hardware which was awesome and there was less that .04 separating the top 4 spots. I think my son now has the fever to start working on next years car. Thank you again all who were so good to me this season... who knows maybe we will try our hand at box stock?

If you truly want to prepare for next, box stock or BASX are your two best class to get started in. It is truly hard to be fast when building only one car a year (although your car does look outstanding).

Thank you we spent some time tying to make it look like something...I learned alot this year. We actually bulit 3 cars this year I built one for a friend like I would for my son, but he wanted cool over fast... he wanted both.. so he got teh bst we could do with both. My friends car was more in keeping with what i see others on here building and racing. He just didn't wanna spend on the wheels .. we ran stock axles and all.. and it ran 2nd in our pack My third car was the awannas racer I sent off to texas ..it won the whole meet today.. I had so much fun doing these.. my wife even likes me tinkering around with them as long as I give her back her kitchen table.

way to go man , i have a place in my heart for the big body cars, i like a car that looks like something. the fastest cars that run flat wafers and wedges are awesome but there is something magical about the scout cars /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

It is funny... one of the boys that built his car at my place built a plank car with fenders, and was awarded the most unique car...

I guess I thought it was funny because I see them all of the time, I don't think of them as unique... but he got a plaque for it and everything (along with his pack champ and district champ trophies)... he was happy !

What is the old saying .... winning makes everything right

Good news JR and congratulations on the finish. I agree with B_Regal, build a Box Stock or BASX in preparations for next years race and send it in for a couple of races here. You will hone your skill set even more than it is now. Great Job!
