Can anyone tell me what size drill bit I need to sue to drill the axel slots on an Awana car.. the seem to be a little too snug using the std bit for pwd.

If drilling into a Pine block, I like to use a 3/32" bit.

For something like Basswood, you may want a tiny bit snugger.

3/32 is too big and 2.5mm is way too big. #43 is about right. The problem with Awana wheels is they vary widely in wheel bore size. Sometimes the axles are very tight which means you have to slightly reduce the axle size. Using a #43 bit ensures your axles will fit but the holes may need to be relieved.

not sure on my number of drill, but it measures .089. and is really snug to start, but process of putting axles in and out makes it better. if still too tight, i like to remove some material from under the car at the end of the axle hole
