My daughter was able to win 1st in her group by less than 4mph. This year the results were given in I assume scale mph. I wanted to compare to last years time but is their a way to convert?

35ft track. Fast times usually 2.9~
Given 164 mph as avg speed.

Other cars were 160, 155 so it seemed close but does that relate to inches or car lengths.

Thank you for you math geniuses!

Congrats on the win! A quick disclosure - I’m not a pro. If I’m way off base here, I’m sure others will speak up shortly.

I would caution you about trying to compare results from one year against any other year. The track conditions will not be the same from year to year.

Scale MPH is mainly of interest to the kids. Your ET is a more useful measure of a cars performance.

If you want to convert scale mph to et, this is how I would do it… We need a track length. A 35 foot besttrack has a racing length of 358 inches. We also need a scale. This is typically 1/24, or 1/25. I’ll use 1/24. And we also need your scale mph. I’ll use 164.

The formula would look like this:
358÷((164÷24)×17.6)
This gives us an et of ~2.9767

Or working it the other way - starting with your et ( I’ll use 2.9767 ) - it would look like this:

((358÷2.9767)÷17.6)×24
This gives us ~164.0010 scale mph.

Thank you! Your a math genius :) I think your calculation is spot on. Her car did seem slower this year. She was so happy to win with her car. With covid restrictions they did not let the adults race in an open class so I was trying to pep up her car but it was a close race :)
