I do have other axles

The file is what I use. The sandpaper I use 400 up to 2000 grits for scout cars. You could buy the axle polishing kit from DD4H. His sandpaper goes much finer.

Bones I went to Walmart and got some 3m assorted grits 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 .
I just found I had 1000 and1500 mixd in with some other grits , I have lower grits with my palm sander stuff
I am assuming thst you wet sand
Like I said I do have other axles just in case I do not like the originals
I can not find 400 so I will start with 600

Wet sanding is right. Try the 600 but if it doesn't good after the 600 pick up some 400 at auto zone tomorrow.

I Had to go out and take Mandy someplace so on the way home i got some 400 and 800
I am assuming that you sand in 200 increments at least that"s what I am looking at/ I will work on them tomorrow
I was wondering you just burnish the wheels and not do the lapping technique
