Band saw issue

I am having issues with my band saw. When I am cutting out a car I will get about halfway down the length of the block and the blade starts to deflect. The top of the block where the blade is entering is fine and on track, but as it travels thru the block and comes out the bottom it starts to deflect to my right so I end up with a very uneven cut, and as I continue the cut it gets even worse. I have paid attention to the direction on the grain in the wood but that has no effect. I am at a loss. I have never had an issue like this before this year. I almost ruined a car because of this. I am considering purchasing a new saw before next year and want a good one that wont give me these issues.

A good band saw set up is likened to PWD is so many ways. Everything is effected by everything. If you have a blade with out good teeth or one that wants to preform straight cuts and you are doing a radius you'll have a tough time. You need proper tension as well as height adjustment. grain will mess with you with a dull blade. I would suggest taking it to a local shop that sells band saw blades, you know the kind of shop that sells all the very hard to find tools that the big boxes don't carry. I would go see them with it, they will see it as a challenge and fix it while you wait and buy a blade from them. The Shops like that are hard to find, they are usually very cluttered and breaking all sorts of OSHA laws, they are the best! They will sharpen used saw blades and actually have the knowledge to answer questions. I always find it funny at The big boxes when you make the mistake and ask a technical question. Go see the Ma and pa store!

There are several possibilities for the problem.
1. Your lower wheel needs adjustment, the rubber tracion band is bad or the bearings are going.
2. The wrong blade . When I resaw lumber to make planks I use a 2" wide blade, now you don't have that option but use the widest blade you can, 1/2, 3/4 ect..
3. Tension wrong in combination of an out of alignment blade support.
4. Check the table squareness.
5 use a larger fence with a finger board to keep tension on bottom half.
If all else fails use a Japanese pull saw.

Good luck.

I've still got a Greenlee band saw for sale in Chesterfield Missouri (W. St. Louis area) Used, but still works for any reasonable bid. Boss was going to give it to me,(FOR FREE!) before he knew, they were selling (USED) for $1,400.00 on E-Bay. $200 might get it... It's not being used, and just taking up space. I'd like to see it go to a good home!

Well, who told him they were? And, if somebody offers to give somebody something they should keep their word. lol
