I would not use the compressor just because it was too loud before.
Now it is as loud as a conversation.

Joe I drain the tank after every usage, plus I use an inline air filter at the end of the air hose or tool that I'm using. See link as an example.

I bought that thing too. It is handy for all sorts of stuff. Great for installs when you don't want all the fuss of a compressor.
It has DECENT juice but not quite fast enough for my liking.
Pro's- Really portable (can take it to a "clean" room for prep)
I am starting to think that with the amount of air that is used in prep, canned air may be the way to go. It is fast moving and always clean quiet and portable.
It is more expensive but I don't use a heckuva a lot of air in prep so a 6 pack might last a while.

If you are concerned about the noise, how about something like this (Or smaller)? http://www.harborfreight.com/11-gallon-portable-air-tank-65595.html Change out the adapter to be a quick connect, fill it up, and should be good for a while if just used for blowing out the bores. I have a 7 gallon Kobalt I bought on clearance and use it to top off 100+ soccer balls at the beginning of the season.

Here's what I've got, the California Air Tools unit (the silver one), a tad bit more money but I can say this is super quiet. I've been on the phone and standing just about over the compressor when this has kicked on and the person on the other end has never asked what the noise is, it's whisper quiet.

Last week, I bought a Craftsman 16" scroll saw in new condition (used once...)(with 90 new blades) for $35.oo. ($150 new/Blades a buck each.)
A Greenlee 48" Bandsaw in new condition (Used once)(with 3 extra metal/fine blades) for $65.oo.($400+ New/with blades running almost $100 each!)
A Chicago floor mount drill press, AND! 300!!! assorted bits (Used/New) for $20.oo at a garage sale, I found listed on craigslist, for $75.oo. Same guy, different day!
SHOP CRAIGSLIST! FIRST!! You wont be sorry. Shop local, I got these within 10 miles of my house.
No haggle, if you like it, buy it. The EXTRAS were worth the asking price for the tools!
Off topic, but I bought a Carpet Cleaner too, my carpets look NEW again- (Rug Dr.+5 gal cleaner-$35.oo)
CRAIGSLIST is AWESOME! (Unless you get killed by a scam, that would NOT be awesome... Be Careful!)
