BASX DFW fluting edge polishing

I'd like input from the pros as to how do they polish the DFW edge ( fluting area ) of the BASX wheel?
I've damaged a few while polishing it lightly using micromesh pads while the wheel is chuked on a Q-tip. Doing this by hand invariably introduces an uneven edge which manifests as a wobble when the wheel rides on the edge during tuning. Any advise how to overcome this would be welcome.
