Beat on the Start Slope

One thing I noticed at our PWD was that my son's car was not in first place at the bottom of the slope. It would hit the transition and rocket ahead, distancing all the other cars on the flat. Right as it got to the transition, however, it would be 1/2 to a full car length behind.

The CoM on the car is ~3/4".

Any idea what to address? The car that took the lead, was of a high-leading-wing design (the "quick start"). Our track is a Besttrack, so I would expect that the quick-start would actually have no effect.

Possibly the other car was weighted more in the front or middle and yours weighted in the rear took the other car in the flat? Maybe the weight in the rear was able to push the car down the track faster in the flat.

Its hard to say without seeing how the other car is made?

I didn't look really closely at the other car. Standard wheelbase w/ wheels in approx the same location as ours. Tungsten canopy at the rear axles. No Idea on CoM, but would guess it at ~1 in or so.

I'm just flummoxed as to how our car would be beat on the downslope like that.

Setup, or wheels. The lighter the wheels the faster the acceleration. Also I assume you are rail running? If the car you are racing isent running the rail and if the car is staying off the rail until the transition that can be the reasone also.
