Never worry about pushing in your Axles to far again!

We've all to pushed too hard before tuning an axle and pushed it in, well this fixes/helps that.

1. With car built and axles pushed in exactly where you want them.
2. drop some Very thin CA into the Axle Access Holes.
3. Let Dry and break loose
4. Now it will bottom out and when you tune you'll never push it too far unless you really force it!
Note: This also reinforces the Axle Access hole when pushing out axles.

Axle Access Hole= A hole on the bottom side of the car that allows you to see the ends of the Axle that allows you to push the axles out with a small screwdriver!

(just trying to get some good tips out of you guys!)

Wow!

I can see that you like to live dangerously Ice!

It seems like it would be really easy to wreck the axle holes if not done just right.

This might be too daredevil for my taste.

I will have to try it and let you know. LOL

Really? I would think it make it safer after you've drilled it and easier to remove! Try it you'll like it! /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

For your scout cars where you can't use washers between the wheel and body ... forget the Sally Hansen stuff. It dries too slow and too soft, IMO.

Instead, put a coat of thin CA glue around the axle hole (put in a junk axle to keep the glue out of the hole). It'll dry hard in 20 seconds. Sand it smoooooth. I use micromesh and sand it to 12000. It basically becomes as hard and smooth as glass. Then, apply your favorite bore wax. Finally, give all your Sally Hansen bottles to your wife.

Another tip: go buy a pair of 1-2-3 blocks. It will take some time, but eventually you will find hundreds of uses for them and wonder how you ever got by without them.

Don't know if I have something different, but my Sally Hansen (Teflon) dries in 10 minutes. I still usually give it another couple of hours, but never have had a problem, i.e. with BSA races, not NPWDRL. Maybe it's because Denver is a very dry climate, with little huminity.
I help a lot of scouts, and even with only one hour dry time, never had a problem with the boy's cars. This year, at more than 12 events, always placed 1st except when more than one boy was in the same race. Last race, just last month, helped 4 boys, always used Sally Hansen, even with cars using Ekonokote wrapped over the sides. The 4 boys were 1st thru 4th, and only 100ths apart.

I'm not saying that the Sally Hansen doesn't work. It does. Just that I get (at least) the same results with a product that dries faster (20 seconds) and is ubiquitous.

'Ubiquitous' was a word I picked up listening to the traffic reports in Atlanta. Keith Kalland would tell us near daily to "watch out for the ubiquitous ladder in the roadway." Yeah, I had to look it up, too.

Hi LB,
Good tip. I like to hose down my cars with CA as well.
C'mon though.
Give us a bone with a little meat on it to gnaw on.

I tried. But apparently all I'm good for is providing the "vocabulary word for the day". /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif
