Bend or drill cant fdw ???

Axles are pro 92 s BSA bought a kit last year with 400 600 1000 1500 2000 2500 and 3000 grit sand paper then 1 micron polishing paper then 2 micron polishing paper is that good enough or do I go farther ??? But started with1000 grit first all done on drill press 10 secs for sand paper 30 secs for polishing. Will polish wheel bore and axle ,then burnish both with graphite , per rules. Any more???

I'd recommend purchasing DD4H's axle polishing kit.

DD4H's 92's . . . I'd start with 1000 grit at 5-6 seconds, and add 2 seconds of time to each grit as you go up. Polish the shaft of the axle where the wheel rides and under the head. Cut sandpaper strips 1-1/8" x 7/16" to conserve, and use only once. Wet sand don't dry sand. Let sandpaper soak for 10 minutes before using it.

If you have the tools, I'd clamp a Dremel to a table and polish axles using the Dremel at 8000 rpm instead of using a drill press.

OK, I had to deal with this situation on a car today and it did not tune right. The double angles create very weird actions on the tuning board and a weird angle on the dominant front wheel. It is definitely not the way to do it.

Thx John for the story. Took your advice and drilled fdw straight . These forums were helpful for bending your 92s . Bent the axle so that it barely fits through wheel after prep
