When polishing bores with Tamiya swabs, is it best to use a fresh swab tip for each bore? My thinking is that I should, but if y'all have had good results with re-using them, I am all about saving a few swabs.

Ya I am not sold on using them also. I got the black ice kit too and I see why you ask the question. Seems there has to be a better way to do this. Maybe start off with the bigger swabs on a old wheel then after it crushes go to your race wheels.

I picked up some of 87106 swabs. They feel like a good tight fit in the bores, and my feeling is that they are a lot less likely than the q-tip stalks to tear out chunks of plastic. I'm just wondering if I can get away with using a single swab for multiple wheels, or if they lose effectiveness after the first.

Ballastic hit the nail on the head. You have to try stuff to see what works for you. I can tell you I have long given up shoving a QTip stalk in a wheel bore. I could never get it to work. When I polish, nothing is in there snug or tight. Just a tiny bit of friction is all you need. And time, sprinkled with patience. When to buff out a wheel is also a tricky part to me. I don't blow them out after the initial wax; there are better ways to remove the excess wax. The best way is to get a bunch of scout wheels and given different methods a try; just slight variations from the black ice video. You'll have to figure out how to gauge your technique; putting them on a car works, but may not be the best method. I'm a visual creature, so I need to be able to see what's going on in there.

Yeah, I've never been much for the q-tip stalks, personally. Always managed to destroy bores with them. Have been relying on pipe cleaners for a long time now, but thought I'd give these Tamiya swabs a go. Seem like a nice compromise between pressure and "give".
