My boy named his car Bob and it’s always fun building a killer looking car with him. He started off thinking form was more important than function until he realized what it would take to get a shot at the title, but it sure is nice when you’re able to print whatever he’s able to dream up.

I would vote that car best design if it raced at NPWDRL... Tell your son that Bob is a VERY cool looking car.

Will do and it already brought a bunch of haters out at races this past weekend. Bob isn’t racing until the grand finals next weekend, but two people already challenged me saying it wasn’t “of wood construction”. At least I’m leading the post-race inspection so it’ll be a fun one this year.

That was going to be the exact question I was going to ask if a stink about our vinyl covering and ladder body was raised!

Been there. One time, I cut a k house groove for scouts, and they though I used screws instead of axles.

A couple of years ago we had that at our regionals. People said we were running aftermarket axles instead of the stock Awana ones. Fortunately our regional director is a fellow speed freak and understands what was going on.

I just pulled the axle from NDFW and showed them that it was legal... I told them that I would pull another one too, if they wanted, but only after the race. They were okay with that...

Staying a legit Box Stock car was a tough one, but Bob managed to pull out the win at the Area Council (webcast) race.

I’m was so glad to see that 2nd place car do so well since we had to do a last minute wheel and axle swap an hour before the race. The car was checked in last minute and was built according to last year’s BASX rules. It had some DD4H Dynasty 93s and Terminator wheels. It seemed like a legit oops after talking to the dad on the phone so we whipped out a Dremel, file and sandpaper to do a quick prep on some out-of-the-tube axles. I then took some prime #15 wheels out of my bag, bent one axle and slapped them on with some oil a quick tune.

We’d normally just kick it back and let them fix it on their own, but all the cars were simply dropped of in a ziploc. These ziplocs were then handed over to the racing staff and brought to the room where we were webcasting the race. Not the norm due to the whole COVID thing, but it went so well that we’re already talking about having some proxy fundraiser races in the future.
