Buying track...

I'm about to order a Best Track. It's primarily for testing, though I'm guessing I'll lend it and our time to local scouts too.

I'm considering a 3-lane 35' since setup space for testing is problematic. Coupled with the Microwizard K3 timer, I'm hoping this will be a quality system. I know the standard seems to be 42'... but my thought was as long as I can establish a base time, I'll still benefit from knowing whether changes are going in the right direction.

Not as critical, but the reason for going with 3 lanes is a.) the ability to use it to host races and b.) an easier sell down the road.

Am I on the right "track" (punny) or is there a flaw in my logic.

I bought the same setup last year. Tell Steve at Best track you want a extra 40" stop section. It is money well spent and cheaper than trashing a set of $40.00 wheels. Also think about getting a 42' and just set it up as a 35'. This is what I did and it is amazing how many times I set it up as a 42' at other locations to tune.

+1, I have a four lane but when I host races I only use three. I am thinking of taking the fourth lane off, and building a single track for tuning. That would make my wife happy. But than that's 2 new timers and a new start gate.
hmmm

I like the idea of extra stop... good point.

Could I talk you into selling me the single lane. I already have a single lane timer, but its on a plastic track, which doesn't do the trick for tuning.

I just determined yesterday that I have room for a 35ft track. It has to go through my bedroom the hall and my kids room, but there's the footage. My wife asked how much one would be. Thats a good sign for me, but not for all of you!

Couldn't the timer and start gate on the 4 lane track be modified to work with the 3 lanes instead of 4?

Sorry Opa. It would be for my tuning. I could use the timer but it would be a pain. I can't imagine it would be too much to retrofit but well see. It would probably be cheaper to what till one comes across eBay.
