Can we talk vapor polishing?

Nah, not that Paul

Vapor polish is a process for polishing inside the nooks and crannies of plastics.

It kind of went out of fashion in the 60's due to the health risks of bringing methylene chloride to a boiling point and the vapors they cause.

It seems to be making a bit of a resurgence with the 3D printing community.

I believe they are using acetone now.

Joe, I've heard of this some time ago, but never personally employed the method. As stated, the health risks involved were not for me for what may be a minuscule gain. I can see where this type of polishing would be vary handy in the plastics industry.

Risk, Schmisk

I have one question for you Paul;

Do you want to run with the big dogs, or not?

First thing you want to do is get yourself some methylene chloride.

Or you can just make your own from paint stripper, like these fellas here

I'll tell you what Joe, you run it in your SP at the MA and I'll run my concoction and we'll see who finishes where. If the vapor polishing finishes out front, I'm a follower, otherwise I'll stick to my method. Grab every edge you can, this will be a great race.

Paul,

Kindly don't interrupt with your bravado.

I have not even gotten to the best part yet!

As far as the MA goes, I have something special planned for you fella.

Good point GX!

Polishing is a complete waste of time!

Thanks,
Joe
