What would you consider to be too aggressive a COG? I'm toying between .73 and .80 in front of rear axles......One car weighs 139g the other 140g. Weighing 25g and 23g on the front axles....

So i should be fairly stable at .7.....? I think I can get it close to 1/2 but I'd rather be safe than see a SPECTACULAR crash and sons broken heart.

The track is an aluminum Fast track....42' with the good starting gate and timers...not sure of the names....very nice track. Will be set up on carpet....

I feel bad for the dad's that don't catch the PWD bug. I see them scrambling to make weight every year the day of the event. I do my best to help them with weight placement or tips. I even volunteered my assistance in cutting, drilling or even with tips or tricks this year for anyone who wanted it. We had 40 scouts race, only 3 asked for help or assistance. Then they all marvel at my cars speed and can't figure out how it's so much faster than theirs. I just want to pound my head against a wall and scream, "I offered to help you!"

I know I have the bug....maybe not all the tools but a strong desire for the knowledge. I've offered my help as well but I'm considered to be a nobody as it was overheard last year after my 2 sons took their divisions and 1-2 overall. Then 2-3 overall district only losing to a car we had beat in the pack. My cars in the past have been slow.....but there is no competition here...my 3.05 car last year "had to be illegal"......so this year I've pulled out all the stops! A sub 3 second car here is unheard of.....I'm pretty sure I HAVE 2 this year!

What makes me laugh is no one asks me how I do it. They are just in aw when we beat ppl by 2-4 car lengths. I have no problem telling everyone everything I know and even refer them to this site, but no one asks

I'll ask!!! Lol. But I tend to want to know all the strange facts and stats.....looking for any little edge that I can pull off. I'm really excited about the races the next 2 weeks. Got my tool bag ready to help anyone who is willing!

I agree, I race in several District races around my region. I put in a few 4 wheel touching cars and win by several car lengths. Afterwards I have a few dad's at my table asking how my cars are so fast. When I give them detailed information and show on my cars the how & why, they look at me like I'm talking chinese... I offered to give a workshop next year, we'll see if a few districts take me up on it.

A side note venting session: next Saturday is my hometown District race. Last year at this race (Open class) I put in a legit 4 wheel touching car (3.00 time oil car) and 2 guys put in cars that ran 2.98 using graphite and blew my doors off. So this time I'll run tech inspection and if I see their cars are 3 wheel I'm going to let them pass (they like to argue at the table). I have a couple "Hot" 3 wheel cars I'll put in that I'm confident they won't beat. I hate to do this, but these 2 guys (in their 50's) have got away with cheating for a long time. As a test, last September at a local race on the same track, I raced them with a 4 wheel touching car with 4 Intimidator wheels, 4 fenders and runs a 2.98 time. They raced a 4 wheel car, one wheel raised barely touching and using graphite and beat me with a time of 2.97

Our races are pretty easy...u fit the box, weigh correctly and standard wheelbase and they let u race. No thin tread width....I always prepare 2 car because I'm constantly defending my cars but simply because I do my homework. I won pack with a 3.05 car.....and was called a cheater. Really? The cars were basic.....3 on the ground 1g wheels. ....straight alignment....wow! Lol

"no thin tread width" but you ran 1g wheels? So you can't narrow the wheels but you can lighten them? What crazy rules! lol!

Same rules here too. Nothing against gouging the heck out of the inside but don't mess with the width of the tread.
