I agree. You need perfect alignment on those rears. Perfect aligned rears allow for less COM. If you get a car with that critical parameter, treat it with respect because you will be able to race it for many years and it will still be competitive.
I am so glad I found this post today. It really helped ease my mind about my new design car I worked on today. I was a bit worried about my COM because I was at 3/8" without wheels and axles and 5/8" with wheels and axle. I thought I might have made it too aggressive. I just need to make sure my rear wheels are aligned correctly.
This is my second year making a car and decided to be a bit more daring with my design and weight placement. As you can see, I went with tungsten cubes this year instead of the cylinders I used last year. It also gave me an excuse to use my new router I got
After cutting the block down it looks like I won't use 2 of the cubes as I am at 4.8 oz without paint. I will just need to figure out if I take a cube from each section or 2 from the front or back. Should be interesting.
