Well, I got my butt handed to me in my first Novice SS race but I am sending the car back for May. I didn't have time to build a new car to properly fix this one (just backed off on the toe-in). I felt I needed to send the car in just so I wouldn't get discouraged. On a positive note I was able to run my car on the 42 ft Best track at the district race. Its the same track we use for the pack race so its how I "measure" my cars (without my own track). It ran a 2.95x. So now at least I know that this track runs about 0.06-.07 faster than Johns and its not my builds that are getting worse. I feel a little better there. My son did well at districts-winning first overall (but the turn out was poor so it was not the greatest race-I am going to run it next year).
See you all in May,
Dr. T

Well I noted the car rode the rail well with 4 in of drift over 4 feet so I cut it in half. I saw the car fall behind within a foot of the starting peg. Could have been due to too much toe in and poorly drilled rear axels. No time to address the axels though.

By all means run again this month! You can't get faster by sitting on the sidelines. When bench racing, we all have super fast cars that no one can beat.

As you found out, all tracks will post different times for the same length track. I can only imagine the discouragement you had when your car posted the times it did in comparison to the other track, .060 - .070 is a huge difference.

Dr. T I have not yet been able to get under that sub 3 mark yet and I am more than happy to b running again in the may race. By all means if you are getting discouraged running a 2.95X well then I must really getting it handed to me. I guess that I am to stupid to know any better But stupid and having fun sounds like me!!

I'm sending in the "Rookie Driver" for the May Race. You all can have beating up on me...as I'm hoping to be under 4 sec.

Worry about having fun with this hobby first! Sure, everyone wants to do well. Every race will have a winner and loser, even if there is only one car. A 2014 Sub 3 is no gimme, So have fun and keep trying.
