It is important to note the following... "Coach" sent me a Kit -- I built it per his "specs" it was not him -- I was the buider - I did however follow exactly what he suggested and for a car that did not have cant'd rear axles, not tuned on a track ahaed of time, and certainly not a very aggressive COM (probably about 1 1/4'') and a way thicker body using steel weights instead of tungsten - We ran the car both in the Open Adult Division and the Pro Division (because the Camera car's beam - would trigger the finish line) - I can truly say that his VERY EASY solution is not too bad - and the car did have some decent runs 3.0025 - 3.0039 - I would be really interested to see if I rebuilt the car (still applying his principles) using what we know makes a car faster... "lighten wheels" & "Canted Rear Axles" & "Some solid basic tuning" how much speed we could have gotten out of it...
We finished just behind 5Kids in both the Scout and Kids Division We managed to take 3rd & 4th Places in the Overall Scout Divsion (1st in Bear Class, 1st in Wolf Class), and 3rd in the Kids Division, along with cars taking 3rd, 4th & 6th in the Open Adult Division... not to bad for the Xanthrum "Dawes Family Team"
I on the other hand had my butt handed to me when I attempted to run the 4 Pro Cars in the Pro Division -- we did manage to run some good single times
- 2.9884 being the single best time... I think I learned a lot about getting additional speed out of my cars by trying some different staging -- and maybe not such a great idea to pour extra oil onto your cars axles and wheels 2 days before the race....
I just really wanted to set the record straight as I know and I am sure that "Coach" may have a car set up to run much better than I did - I can tell you this for sure... his prep and set up was REALLY REALLY Easy - perfect for the scout.
Truly
