Walking through my local Ace (looking for a can of Jig-a-loo) I noticed CRC Industrial Food Grade Silicone. Has anyone tried this or something similar? The can indicates that it is safe to use with Rubber or Plastic.l
It's not as good as Jig a loo or 3M dry silicone spray on the axles. I've used it on wheels at times with variable good results. If you use it on the wheels you must get as much as you can off with polishing.
