Death of Street Rod?? POLL!!!

I had a short conversation with John about this class. I know he and many others want this to succeed and be really fun for the participants. Just hang in there I'm sure we will get it worked out soon.

Regardless of were the rules end up and what models are allowed or not, I will still be building a street rod for the fall/winter season.

I will hold off the build until we get this nailed down for sure.

Hopefully more guys get excited about it and send in.

I know I don't run it, have thought about it and even started building a body Stone Cold gave me then it was outlawed. Just my opinion I say open it up let it be about thinking outside the box. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THIS IS WE WOULD GET OUR BUTTS HANDED TO US BY STONE COLD. My friend is one of the best outside the box thinkers there are.

Are ya'll afraid of his creativity that you have to restrict it?

Now that sounds like a challenge that would be fun.

Stone is going to kill me for this post but I feel it is the truth.

This is funny. I'm all for out side the box thinking within the rules. Its not fun racing 1.8 gram wheels when you follow the rules at 2.0grams, or racing a 7.25 inch car when you follow the rules at 7 inches.(Just examples not accusing anyone) That is the nice thing about only having a small amount of body's to chose from. When someone's outside the box thinking take there build out side the rules it's much much easier to spot. If you want out side the box thinking there should be no rules for this class run what you brung and hope you brought enough. If you open it up to all models than people just look for the one that is going to give them the most advantage. just having a select few models that don't have any advantage over the others then the builders build the car they like the most. I LOVE this class, but I'm almost starting to think its more trouble than its worth.

I think this is a neat class. I was never good a making a nice model, had a few airplanes that turned out OK. I've had the thought of trying one next winter if the class was still around. I want to try the other classes first. Since I'm not very creative, If I chose to build one, I'd run regardless of the rule set. I see both sides of the rule dilemma. If numbers were weak, would an every other month thing work?

want to send a street rod in for June Nat's. are the rules set??
need to get started..

thanx for any input

I am seriously not trying to be a pain, but:

I see no limitation on model years, though the initial mention of rule changes said "1979 or older".
Does "Cars must have windows installed" mean just the windows supplied in the kit, or that side windows must be added?
Does the "convertibles must have interior" rule still apply?
AMT and MPC are the same company -- they share molds. No MPC kits?
There had been mention of "road cars only" here, but is not mentioned in the rules.

I'll begin the shopping today, but purchase based on the rules and any updates we'll see over the next day or two.

TIA,
- Eric

(For what it's worth, I think that the original rules were pretty much spot-on -- just lose the four-wheels rule, and possibly open up to only one or two other models [the Olds Cutlass and the Chevelle come to mind]).

After reading thru the rules for nationals everything seems pretty straight forward and sounds good.

But before I buy a $20 model and turn it into a derby car I just need confirmation that the rules for the fall season will be the same as the rules for the National race.

So any 1:25 scale AMT model car that is 1978 and earlier with a 8.5" length or less will be legal from now on right?

Current rules show:
  • 1:25 AMT or Revell
  • No year specification given
  • 8.25" model length maximum
I went to Hobby Lobby and took a look at the various models. Revell lists the completed model length on the box, so there shouldn't be any surprises using one of those.

Are these rules final?

I would also like confirmation that those rules are final and set in stone for the NPWDRL fall season before I buy a body and start building.

Can we get the NPWDRL class and rules page updated to show the new rules for this class?

John, or QT. Can you guys confirm this please?
