Well, as much as I'd like to sell it to you, I only have a couple of the tiny cans (3 ounce) that I picked up on clearance, so I don't really think I have a surplus of it.

On a different note, I just checked the MSDS for that product and it contains a large amount of Methylene Chloride...make sure you use it in very well ventilated areas...like outside. Its carcinogenic and also can cause neurological damage.

Good to know. I just bought 2 large cans 10.9oz. I can send ya if that will work. It would be good to know if this would be worth your (our) time to do???

So true Kinser...so true. That very same slogan was pointed out to me on a sign at Jimmy Johns by a friend, when I told her about my pinewood "hobby" /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Here's the contents of a can of Jig-A-Loo for those who are interested. It appears to be a uniform solution, but there was a decent amount of "dust" or swelled polymer particles in it as well...probably less than 1% by weight. There really isn't a "safe" way to do this at home, unless you have non-sparking tools, so I'd caution anyone against putting a hole in an aerosol can.

I wish I had the time to test some of these axle treatments, since I have 3-4 of my own that I believe would be in the same ballpark.

Jimmy Johns is where I got it from. lol

Hey that is pretty cool how you can do that to an aerosol can. Do you think it would work better as a dip or as a spray. I sprayed my can of jig and it seemed Xtremely thin and and now that I see what you have in the jar it makes sense. Odd difference between jig and blue thunder???

Yeah, its pretty easy to do with the right tools...but it can be messy if you dont do it right. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

I personally think dipping is the way to go. The coverage should be more uniform, and you should have extra time to prepare to shake off the excess, since it doesn't start to dry until you remove the axle from the solution.

The Jig was just like I thought it would be...a thin lubricant. Most aerosol lubes are low solids and meant to leave a thin slick film (solid or liquid). Blue thunder is more like a wax/polish emulsion. I would imagine there are plenty of synthetic polishes out there that leave a slick enough film to work as an axle treatment...but testing is the only way to determine the best one...and I'd bet money that DD4H has done just that /images/boards/smilies/wink.gif

Thanks for the heads-up Quicktime! I'll bet it does! Methylene Chloride has an extremely fast evaporation rate. Although, once its all gone, I'd just redissolve the Jig in something a little slower and less toxic /images/boards/smilies/wink.gif

The Jigg evaporates fast it not sealed really well.
