My son went up against 30 other pack winners from around SE Minnesota at the Hiawatha District Pinewood Derby Championship. Last year's winner raced in a heat right before him and hit a high 3.04 seconds. At the pack derby we had 3.03-3.04 times. So depending on how the track was set up I thought he had a good chance but it may be close. I didn't get a chance to check the slope angle but it looked like they had the adjustable feet on maxed out. Then my son's car made it's first run and hit 3.0005 seconds! He continued to get similar times and even broke sub 3 seconds twice with a best time of 2.9929! The next best car never broke 3.036. They used a points system this year so I didn't get to see what his average time was but it is most likely around 3.00-something. Maybe someone can help me do the math based on the scale mph assuming they used the correct distance?
