First and foremost, a huge shoutout to DD4H and all the pros here on the forum for sharing your knowledge and guidance.

Last year my son went to districts and was crushed in the competition. The best I could do was to tell him we need to educate ourselves more and work harder. I stumbled upon PDOL and read as much as I could. This year, my son won 1st in his rank, 1st overall and best paint.
Now he heads back to districts. He told me he's very confident in his car and feels like he has a good chance this time. What more as a dad could you ask for or be more proud to hear.

Thanks All. He is very exited for Districts. They are set for April 9th at an Auto Dealership that sponsors the event. Originally, they were to be the end of March but something went wrong and that fell through so they had to switch dates and venue.
I asked my son to get his car from his box so I could take pictures. He said "DAD, are you crazy, that's bad luck!!". So he's refusing to let me take a picture until the district race is over  Kids.... LOL. I will come back and post after we find out how he did and post up all the pic's.
Thanks again for all the best wishes, he enjoyed hearing them.

Good luck at district!!! Remind him that you did your best and to have fun while at district! You can also remind him that this years best is better than last years because you both learned a bunch. :D

Then you can tell him that next years best will be even better .....because you will learn even more!!! Keep him interested and keep teaching these STEM cores. These days will go by fast and you are helping to create memories that he will remember for a lifetime. Again, Good Luck!

Well, Districts foiled us again....................
My son took 4th place by .02 :( At inspection, the guy stated we took to much off the wheel diameter. So being prepared, we brought two more sets of wheels that were polished and burnished but not sanded other than mold markings. He measured those and told us no good! At this point it was extremely hard to keep cool in front of 100+ Scouts and parents but I did and I asked if the wheels on the table they had were for sale. Of coarse they are! I pulled one from his new set and asked him to measure it. That too did not measure to his gauge. I politely stated that even his wheels did not fit his gauge and it may be possible that his mass produced gauge was incorrect. He said this is the gauge we use as the official gauge, if your son wants to compete for a trophy, his wheels have to fit. Seems we were not the only ones as others were sorting through wheels as well.
Soooo, after going through all the sets of wheels and finding 4 that fit, he ran is car with out of the tube miss-matched wheels and no prep, on a wooden track. Oh and after pulling the axles, he had no alignment and the rears worked themselves out after every race. He was not allowed to correct it either, even after I stated that it could possibly hinder another racers car if it comes all the way out.
Anyway, I think the track was roughly 30', his best time considering was 2987.22 I told him there's always next year and we will send it into NPDRL and Mid America after we correct what we had to change.

Wow that was a mess, you showed great scout spirit, and how to try and think your way through a situation and not resort to shouting.
Good for You.
