Econokote and aero weight installation... Help!

I'm prepping my car and this is my first attempt at using the lead aero weights in the rears. I skinned the frame with econokote but now I worry that if I ca glue the weights to the econokote the sticky back won't hold. Should I cut the econokote back on the rear side so I'm glueing lead to wood?

I just put a cover on top, I like to sharpie the sides so i can glue all the accessories on, thats what I wood do,
