Electric or Corless???

Depends, a cordless screwdriver usually runs between 0-300 rpm. A drill is much higher 0- 1500 rpm's. I use the 0-300 for the buffing and the 0-1500 for the wax-polish.
I use an electric drill to buff out the wheel bores, highest speed possible with a pipe cleaner. Haven't had an issue yet. Do NOT confuse this with polishing out the wheel bore with the Q-Tip shaft, high speed will kill the wheel bore faster than you can think about it.
Most cordless drills have a low and high setting. Low speed is for screwing and high speed is for drilling.Tekcor1 said:

FWIW (though I don't think there is a real science to this aspect), I use two cordless drills in my wheel prep. I have a heavy duty 1/2" Sears drill that does a great job at the Polish #1 kind of bore prep with a Q-tip stem. It is the most controlled, very slow speed drill I have. You can count the rpms yourself when I am using it for this purpose.
Then I have a 2nd cordless that I use for most of the Polish #2 related work. Nothing special about this one. I use medium to high (max) speeds for different aspects of polishing.
No room for cords around my mess !

I use my drill press on the lowest speed. They come out great. I can actually see myself inside them. I use the fluffy pipe cleaner once I polish them. Again comes out great.
