Our race day day was a huge success. While our car was not perfect in a lot of ways, we easily won the adult grudge match we were in. After the race we did a head to head with the car that won the scout race and beat them by almost a full car length. This was our first try at balsa fenders and I know functionally they have a lot of room for improvement but everyone thought they looked cool and my son was happy so it was a win. Big thanks to everyone and especially Bull Dog for your fender video.

Thanks everyone, no didn't bend rear axles but did use scout axles so we cut the grooves in the head of those as well. I tried making small adjustments to see if I could notice changes on the tuning board but I'm still kinda new so didn't notice a whole lot of difference. They did help a lot with setting wheel gap though.

Really nice looking car for your 1st try with balsa fenders. It would be a really nice looking car for your 50th try with balsa fenders. There are a lot of pros who do not makes fenders as nice as yours...

I wish I knew what the times were, our track is an older wooden track with an aluminum top. I think the finish line was called the Judge. It has a light beam but only tells you who was first, second or third. We never lost a heat though

Congrats that's a good looking car. Looks like a Boxstock car to me, you should send it in and see what she does.

Not trying to hijack the post and i swear we didnt see your pic before building but these two could easily be siblings....annnd i also want to send a big thanks to bulldog for his fender video...im in the process of closing the gap at the wheels with wood putty

No problem Ace, ya they look a lot alike. I like how you narrowed up your cross section in front. That was one thing bothering me about ours but by the time I really noticed the other cars looking like that we were too far along and running out of time. Had to have time for the dreaded paint lol. Nice work!
