I have been dreading making my own fenders. But this year I will make a few cars with fenders. I will post the results when I am done in the next few weeks.
 
This was my first car with balsa fenders and my first car with my new drill jig. My fenderless bent axle car is still faster. Although, I didn’t spend any time on the fender cars axles and wheels. So hopefully after wheel prep and axle prep I’ll see some better times.
 
Awesome work. I have to think that with fenders and the proper wheel, axle and canted wheel prep this would be faster yet.

So here is my wonder... I see fenders most often like LightningBoy’s X3 set up. Same with Bulldogs awesome how to vid where the fenders are not going all the way inside to the block but sanded back outwards coming to a point in mid spot directly behind the wheel. Last year I did my kids same as here where I just took it back inward to the block and had it vertically flat lining up with inside edge of the wheel and block side. Is one way proven to be better? I see more pro’s do it like the X3 so assumed that way was better. Have to admit, my kids cars killed it last year but that was also against folks who don’t know what’s up.
Would love to get some guru input on this because it’s Awana Grand Prix time again and I have our 3 blocks coming. I’m doing open class and based on our car’s performance last year we’ll be the ones to beat. But I am also helping others this year so it’s not so lopsided. Too many kids didn’t get any help or their folks just didn’t know. NO CAR LEFT BEHIND! :D
