Getting a good drill

I just got my silver bullet extreme and drilled two sugar pine blocks (with a pin vise) and both are off by a between .5-.75 inch at the end of my 4 foot tuning board I watched lightning boys simple alignment video and noticed his car was off too.
Is it common to have that much variation in box stock wheels and axles or is the drill bad?
Is there specific grain in the block I should look for to put top or bottom or front or rear?

How are you checking the drill..the only true way to ck it is with pin guages 123 blocks and the jewkes block

The way you are doing it is not the right way

I don’t have 123 blocks so that’s why I tried lightning boys SIMPLE method with a square to check the rear migration and it appears that the right rear migrated slower than the left on both blocks
One side is canted more than the other measuring it is that from the drill or maybe the bushing is off in block because both are the exact same

If you want perfect alignment thats the only way to get it

Your drill is probably not that far off but only way to know for sure is the 123 block method...you can fix the drills real easy

I would assume there is not that much play using the silver bullet extreme I just want it perfect I might try using the back bushing instead of the ones for 4 3/4 to see if is noticeable off until I get 123 blocks to check for sure

I wiped the jig out real good and drilled four holes using all 4 3 degrees bushings and they look identical maybe I just had some trash under the block I didn’t see I will order 123 blocks and try again trying to make sure I give my best effort so my first car I send in doesn’t get embarrassed to bad haha

The problem with the wheel method is your wheels arent perfect

Also sounds like you were using stock axles in your testing - those things aren't straight so your drill may be good but your car winds up off to the side. TRE has got it figured out !

Yeah I thought about later and tried with trued wheels and 93s and it got much better I ordered the 123 blocks but also wondered if the back of the SB is straight enough to set my block in and and check the alignment I think I will check it when the blocks come in

Yes TRE got me straight no matter how many times I read it some times I’m just cheap and need to be told it’s a must haha now if someone would just tell me me I MUST buy a track haha

If you are gonna race pro and want to be competitive i would think about getting a track

All these items are not because of this thread but ones similar. So listen to what is being told to you by these professionals on this board.

How you do that? DD4H suggested using a reamer in another tread but I am afraid that might make the hole too loose.
